2008 VACATION SCHEDULE

IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION FOR 2008 TRAVEL
  • A passport is now required for all travel outside the U.S., including cruises and Canadian trips
  • Our videos are now offered only in DVD format.

Off the Beaten Path, Inc. is a Minnesota-based corporation which has been providing economical vacations for developmentally disabled ambulant adults since 1985. Off the Beaten Path, Inc. vacations are geared to provide quality life experiences while meeting the special needs of our clientele. A tour-guide-to-consumer ratio of 1:4 ensures maximum consumer input and encourages group choice-making. A 1:5 tour-guide-to-consumer ratio is always available for the independent traveler. Complete information regarding tour-guide-to-consumer ratios may be found on the Participant Contract.

Off the Beaten Path, Inc. believes in creating as much independence as possible for its clientele. Vacations are supervised by capable, qualified leaders. All group leaders are full-time, paid employees with multiple years of experience working with consumers. While group leaders are trained in CPR and First Aid, a nurse is not available on all vacations.

Reservations may be made online, by telephone, or by sending the Reservations Policies and Contract with the deposit required (or payment in full, if you prefer). If the reservation is made via telephone, the Reservations Policies and Contract must be received within ten days. Reservations may be made up to 24 hours prior to each vacation departure date, depending on availability. If you register four (4) individuals for a vacation, you are eligible to participate as a volunteer, with all basic expenses paid. Some restrictions apply, please call for details.

The Gold Card Club

The Gold Card Club is for our more independent clientele, and is geared for travelers whose limited needs allow for more activities and greater independence. Members enjoy dining options, more time at preferred attractions, and are accorded lodging accommodations with fellow club members or applicants whenever possible. Gold Card Club members receive discounts on all travel with Off the Beaten Path (see vacation schedule for pricing).

Because of the greater independence of its members, the Gold Card Club’s tour-guide-to-participant ratios are limited to 1:5 and 1:6 only. Members requiring a 1:5 ratio are always escorted in the community, however, consumers choosing the 1:6 ratio will have the freedom to choose activities and the level of supervision desired. They may also choose to remain at the place of lodging unsupervised, to participate with the group, or to explore independently. With prior written permission, Gold Card Club 1:6 travelers may also wait at specified drop-off locations unattended. To become a member of the Gold Card Club, schedule any regular vacation and indicate you would like to be considered for membership. Approval is considered after the regular vacation, and you will be informed of your membership status upon application for your next vacation.
